But it's rare for Rivers to be the one giving an injection. Regardless, the 78-year-old star gave daughter Melissa Rivers, 44, an injection of fertility drugs on an episode of their reality-TV show, "Joan and Melissa: Joan Knows Best"

Getting together with your mother well enough to live together with her is some thing.

But trusting her to inject you with a needle is another – especially when that matriarchal figure simply so happens to be Joan Rivers.

The comedienne, who refuses to let her 78 years dictate when she should resign from showbiz, was forced to offer Melissa the drug after boyfriend Jason Zimmerman walked out last September.

Joan Rivers and daughter Melissa Rivers obvoiusly have a very close relationship!
And they certainly leave little to the imagination on their reality show, Joan and Melissa:Joan Knows Best?
Ever since Melissa's boyfriend Jason Zimmerman walked out on her last September, the deed of injecting her with fertility treatments has now been given to Joan.
During the second season of their reality show, Joan can be seen giving Melissa the shots, which is something that didn't come so easy to her at first.
On the show, Joan is seen practicing on an orange by thrusting a needle in the fruit.
And boy, do they let it all out.
Also seen on the show is Melissa and Jason's huge fight where he storms off after telling her:
"You know how much I care about this family. The fact that I sit there and give you shots, the fact that I'm busting my a** out there, the fact that you have the audacity to bust my b***s about going to a meeting!"
And referring to Melissa's father Edgar Rosenberg, who committed suicide in 1987, screams at her, "I'm not your f****ing father. I'm not going to end up like him!"
Whoa. Way out of line. This is one crazy reality show. But we really don't expect anything less from Melissa and Joan.
